There's MORE to learning at MORLEY!
April 27, 2007
VOLUNTEER TEA on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25 We were so very pleased to have the honor of celebrating so many Morley friends and volunteers at the Volunteer Tea this past Wednesday, April 25. It was just one small way we could express our appreciation for our volunteers support and involvement at Morley. Several students, under the direction of Mrs. Colwell, were present to share their beautiful music as volunteers and staff celebrated together. We heard a message from Mrs. Vicki Fisher-PTO president, along with Mr. Kevin Naumann and Mrs. Jane Millard, staff co-chairs for volunteers and Morley partners. Appreciation certificates and small gifts of chocolate treasures were shared with all. We enjoyed the treasures of creative clay fish our fourth graders made in art class.. With our theme this year. “WE TREASURE OUR VOLUNTEERS!”, all the pieces flowed together for a most memorable and treasured time! Thank you volunteers! You are so significant and appreciated at Morley School!
| Grandma Fern Bates and Grandma Norma Anderson, celebrated together at the Volunteer Tea. Grandma Fern has volunteered every Wednesday for about ten years, in Mrs. Bergholz’s room. Grandma Fern will be celebrating her birthday in May-eighty years young! Grandma Norma has started volunteering on Thursdays. When she is at Morley, three generations are busily learning and playing at Morley-Norma, daughter Mrs. Jeanelle Brester-health technician, and granddaughter Jaime-fourth grade student. How we treasure each and every volunteer and generation of Morley Meadowlarks! | ![]() |

Kindergarten student Trey B, along with volunteer father Jay B, chat with volunteer mother Jackie C, along with her kindergarten daughter Hailey, and fourth grade son, Walker. We appreciate all the volunteer work our parents do at Morley! We could not reach the level of excellence we enjoy, without each and every volunteer family! |
MORLEY SCHOOL’S GOLD STARS FOR 2006-07
Each year, the LPS Foundation sponsors two Gold Stars from every school in the Lincoln Public Schools. This year, Morley
honors Mrs. Linda Churda and fifth grade student Craig Olson. Congratulations to our Gold Stars for 2006-07!
Craig Olson is a model fifth grade student at Morley. Craig brilliantly demonstrates his passion for math, as evidenced in a recent on-line math league. Craig equally excels in all academic areas, earning superior scores.
Just as impressive, is Craig's character as a student and a young citizen. Craig is always ready to help others, showing his high level of compassion, responsibility and friendship. Craig's positive and thoughtful leadership for and with his classmates, is also, championed by his ability as a strength finder and spirit lifter!
Craig is the son of Lynette and Darin Olson. Craig has two sisters, Brenna and Leah, and one brother, Scott.
Linda Churda is a special Morley friend, neighbor, grandmother, and volunteer. For the past five years, hardly a day goes by when you don't see that beautiful smile of Linda's, somewhere at Morley, and performing acts of kindness from her head, hands, and heart!
Linda has been a classroom volunteer, copy room volunteer, room grandparent/parent volunteer for special events, and Library Media Center volunteer. Linda's shares and uses her gifts in being an organized leader for volunteers with her never-ending commitment. With these strengths and energy, Linda is the picture of the perfect volunteer, strongly impacting excellence at Morley School.
Linda's grandson, Jackson, is now in the fourth grade at Morley. Linda has served as a great advocate for Jackson and other youth, in her other volunteer roles as Cub Scout Master and Junior Achievement Consultant. Linda is married to Alan Churda.
Both fifth grade student Craig Olson and Mrs. Linda Churda were honored on Wednesday evening, May 2, at the LPS Gold Star Banquet. We are so very proud of these two Gold Stars!
