Morley's Sister School in Taiwan - April 2000MING LUEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Morley's Sister School in Taiwan
On April 3, 2000, Morley and Ming Luen Elementary Schools signed a compact declaring them to be sister schools. This was a very important day for all of us. Ming Luen is a public school in Taipei, Taiwan. Ming Luen has approximately four hundred twenty students. This is about the same size as Morley.
The compact between Morley and Ming Luen Schools means that we will exchange information regarding cultures, curriculum, instruction, and methods of assessing our effectiveness with student achievement. This is an exciting adventure. We have already exchanged many instructional materials, strategies for teaching, and student activities.
Four visitors came to Morley to sign the compact. The principal - Alice Chia-Hui, Jack Chen - PTA Chair and Parent, Ing-Lou Chen - Business Affairs Staff Member, and Jerry Tseng, teacher, arrived on April 1 and stayed through April 5. We had a wonderful time. Our Ming Luen visitors brought many gifts from the children in Ming Luen, along with many, many other gifts including Chinese knotting by parents, software, video tape of Ming Luen, paintings, student made messages, scrolls, prints, books, and many, many more gifts. Morley gave gifts of books from our PTO, other books, children's messages and art work, a key to the city of Lincoln, and much more.
Ming Luen and Morley will continue to work together for years to come.
