Kindergarten classrooms are heterogeneously grouped to include children functioning at various academic levels. Most math and reading instruction is done with direct instruction to the whole group. Small groups are formed and used when appropriate. Children have self-choice time to work on options and activities, designed by teachers for the kindergarten child's growth and develop, ent, within centers. Kindergarten students participate in all special areas such as physical education, music, computer education, and library media center activities.
