First through fifth grade students at Morley Elementary School receive music instruction for fifty minutes every four days. (Kindergarten students receive twenty-five minutes of instruction once every four days.) The curriculum is centered around the Kodaly Method and Orff Approach to teaching music and students learn to sight read music utilizing elemental music and folk songs from many cultures. Students are active participants in creating and performing through movement and instruments as well as the voice. The soprano recorder is introduced in fourth grade and students at this level may also participate in the chorus.
